House To Let in Normandy

Welcome to Les Cavées

'More a home than a gite'

Les Cavées is a converted stone auberge in the peaceful village of Fresville, close to Sainte-Mère-Eglise in the middle of the Cotentin peninsula. Les Cavées sleeps 8 but is equally enjoyable by a couple – there is ample room to relax indoors, as well as a charming area for outside meals or aperitifs.

Les Cavées has proved to be well placed for exploring the story of the Allies D-Day 'Overlord' campaign. There are numerous excellent museums of various sizes and memorials. A 'stele' was recently commemorated in the village to recognise a local tragedy. To the south-east of the peninsula are the hills, rocks and gorges of the 'Suisse-Normande'; and as well as interesting geology, there is a Fossil Museum nearby. Lush farmland supports a rich local cuisine while the lengthy coastline and local ports provide delicious seafood.

Les Cavées has been described as 'more a home than a gite'. The deliberate lack of television has been appreciated by many families over the years; they have enjoyed making their own entertainment, playing games, and exploring the rich Manche area of lower Normandy.
